What are the skills that I can learn out to leave my present place of employment and work from home? I am a non-IT engineer with 2+ yrs of experience. Likewise, I am a snappy student. I know how to work as a freelancer too. Generously exhort.
Hi,
Firstly I appreciate your preparedness plan. As far as I understand, you are still on the job. Right? It is good to think before you take action and keep an action plan ready. I will try to give you honest advice. After reading the full answer and additional reference posts, everything should come together and make sense.

Even a non-IT Engineer can be a freelancer. The term “freelancer” is not just for anyone who knows IT and does IT-related tasks. As per the Cambridge Dictionary, a freelancer is someone who does particular pieces of work for different organizations, rather than working full time for a single organization. So, you can do freelancing in your field of Engineering as well.
What’s better than this is you being a quick learner. Consider the problem half-solved then. If you develop some IT skills, then it can pay you better. You might have heard the phrase “skills pay the bills” and it’s true, but some are better than others. As per a survey report, the freelancers doing IT-related tasks are paid better for their work.
There are many skills you can learn. For example, software development, website design, networking, etc. The demand for different skills in the market keeps on varying over time. With no intention to discourage you, there is a lot of competition in this field. It should not stop you from trying. Your strong determination, sincere efforts, and dedication of your time can make everything possible. It becomes easy if you keep on doing your SWOT analysis from time to time.(You must be aware of individual Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats)
Regarding work from home, I would say “if you hit the nail right” that means if you get a good hint to start with, then you will not just stay at home and work, you can earn money while you are traveling, enjoying a holiday destination, playing football, etc. Yes, I am serious. Check this I’m Ready to Quit My Job YESTERDAY, How Do I Do It? This post can be of great help to you. I find a resemblance between this post and your situation. By the end of this post, you will be nearer to your final decision.
Good Luck!!
